Services:

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Tuesday, June 5, 2018, at 11 AM, at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church, 300 W. Babbitt Avenue, Pen Argyl.  There will be a viewing beginning at 9:30 AM until 10:45, Tuesday at the church.  Interment with Military Honors will be at St. Elizabeth’s Cemetery, Pen Argyl.   The Ruggiero Funeral Home, LLC, www.ruggierofuneralhome.com, Pen Argyl is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorials:

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to either St. Elizabeth’s Building Fund, 300 W. Babbitt Avenue, Pen Argyl, PA 18072 or to St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church, C/O Phyl Tucker, 553 Getz Road, Pen Argyl, PA 18072.

 


Sigmund J. Catino
 
Born: November 27, 1926
Died: May 31, 2018

Sigmund J. “Sigi” Catino, 91, of Pen Argyl, passed away, Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Slate Belt Nursing and Rehab Center.  He was the husband of the late Lucie (Dalmas) Catino, who passed away, May 12, 2016.

Born in West Bangor, November 27, 1926, he was the son of the late Joseph and Minnie Reuben Catino.

Prior to retiring, Sigi was employed by the former Bear Automotive, Bangor.  After retiring and until his death, he was employed in maintenance for Gustine/Wind Gap Plaza.

He was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Parish, Pen Argyl and the International Brothers of Electrical Workers.

He proudly served his country in the US Army during World War II in the American Theatre and received the World War II Victory Metal.

Sigi cherished his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by three sons, Dennis A. Catino of Pen Argyl, Joseph G. Catino of Williston, ND, and Sigmund J. “Chip” Catino, Jr. and his wife Anne of Lower Milford Township, two daughters, Kathleen A. Bet and her husband Robin of Wind Gap, and Rosemarie C. Smith and her husband Troy of Pen Argyl, eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a sister Palma Catino of West Bangor, a brother, Peter Catino of Pen Argyl and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Anthony, Charles, Ernest, Frank, Louis and Pasquale, and three sisters, Josephine Abruzzese, Phyllis Becker, and Mammie DeNardo.
